Each year the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) invites everyone to get involved, get stuck into a book and celebrate reading during National Book Week. This year’s theme Escape to Everywhere encapsulates what is at the heart of reading and what is so important about books. Throughout the week of the 19th – 26th August, we have been encouraging the children to bring in their treasured books from home to share with each other and dress as their favourite book characters. There were so many great costumes including Thelma the Unicorn, Little Red Riding Hood, Angelina Ballerina, Thing 1, and of course Elsa from Frozen. It really is never too early to start encouraging a love of books and reading in young children.
